How to get the I2S Signals from Chaintech/ AV710 Revolution / M Audio / iPod?

Hi,

Any one tried tapping I2S Signal from Chaintech / M-Audio / AV Revolution 7.1 sound cards? Can you tell me is it possible to get a I2S signals from these boards? How is the quality of I2S signals?

If not, can you suggest how to get I2S from portable players such as iPod / Mp3 players?

Basically I need a I2S signal source, if any one tried already I want to buy the same sound card / portable player. (I can not afford costly cards so need a cheaper one)
