Hi Guys,

My count is at 48 so far, and I'll be ordering 50, so I'm going to call it finished now so I have a little bit of safety margin.

I was going to tack these onto an existing order, but it has been slow going, so I'll just finish these up and get them ordered, hopefully by the end of the weekend.

Here is my list of proposed changes, please give me feedback on any thoughts you might have. It's imperative that the board remain at least findamentally compatible with all three formats (acko, BII and BIII) so please keep this in mind.

1. I'd like to replace the SPDIF transformer with a more commonly available and easy to to obtain unit. Please let me know if there are any suggestions on this. Nothing excessively expensive.

2. I would like to change the RCA connector to either a more common board mount solution, a board mount BNC, or just two PTH holes so people can solder their own. Any suggestions?

3. With the smaller RCA jack, I'd like to replace the 6 pin header with a proper switch that is externally accessible.

--- All the above changes only really concern those building with the BII ---

4. I would like to add the proper connection points for the different output locations on the BIII. I can see that all outputs are separately accessible, so should I tie them all together on this PCB by providing 24 headers for the outputs? Is there any provision for tying these together on the BIII itself?

5. I'm would like to make space between the regulator section (regulator output caps) and the BII/BIII board to allow for the "External I/O connector" to still be used. I believe Salomon mentioned that his was inaccessible unless he turned the BIII 180 degrees and I'd like to avoid that. Any comment on this (especially from Salomon) would be welcome.

6. I would like to remove the placeholders for the optional capacitors to make the output LPF. I don't think anyone ended up using them, and I don't like unused placeholders on the board.

7. I would like to add the terminals for the power connectors for the BIII. Could I ask bigpandahk to update his excellent drawing to include the distance of PIN 1 from both edges of the PCB?

Any other suggestions or comments are welcome!

Cheers,
Owen

The BIII have jumper to short the outputs. You may just provide connection to the six headers default for the IVY/Legato.

Distance from both edges are 6.5mm and the drawing is updated.

Smile FETS, Fets, fetszzzzz

To whoever,

Of course we can read! And we all know Qusp has no fets left. We just try...
Maybe someone in the group has the possibilty and is willing to sort fet-pairs out for us.
I would be one of the first on the list then,

Ed

anyone who has tried it has realized what a pain it is to do properly, I wouldnt go hoping for someone else to do it for you, I suggest you do it for yourself from a batch of 30 or 40 (you might be lucky, 100 and you would start to see some good matches all at once

with a curve tracer it would be less time, but even then still significant and the return on that time is very low. i'll hazard a guess that other than retirees, the people with the gear or skill to do it have more pressing/rewarding things to do with their time.

it will rely on an act of generosity from someone, asking for generosity is. …
