I have been using a Cambridge S-700 Isomagic to play airtunes form my Airport Express/Mac set-up...anyways, I have just been offered a ridiculously cheap Rotel RDD-980 transport in mint condition and I am wondering if there is a simple route I could take to adapt the transport to work in clock-link mode with the DAC - does anyone make aftermarket clocks with clocklink?

Have you tried looking through the other Isomagic threads and maybe some others relating to John Westlake, the designer?

Hi Decree,
Depends how handy and confident you are with a soldering iron, and working on your CD player. Due to demain (and promises I've made in the past) - I will shortly start designing a small PCB that will allow adding a Clocklock card to upgrade your CD player. John

That sounds pretty good. I'd be interested myself once I've resolved the current problem with my Isomagic.

Would be possible to connect CD4SE with isomagic? What results should I expect comparing to Dacmagic Isomagic combo, if any?

Well, the CD4SE has faster responce times, and can read disks (the DISKMAGIC was not the best with poorer quality disks) - apart from that, the DISKMAGIC / Isomagic will sound better once clock locked.

I was thinking about locking CD4SE with Isomagic.

, Oh Ok... Sorry...Once clock locked - its best to use optical Toslink for both SPDIF and Clock - the quality of the transport is then no longer important, so long as it reads discs with no errors. It would be a shame to pull appart a CD4SE - better use something less sought after... John
