Has anyone heard both the Buffalo DAC (hopefully, the latest version) and the Benchmark DAC1? How do they compare?

Get a Benchmark DAC1 for a week few months ago:::::::::::::: and has been a pleasure to return it !Can't believe is a top rated DAC . No PRAT and mechanical sound, and leave AC power on all time just to be sure I don't miss something.

I also was not impressed with the Benchmark. I had both the Benchmark and a simple CS4397 based jobbie off ebay ($79 with a LM4562 Opamp in it) connected to a switchable optical input to the same preamp so I can switch one DAC to the other and the CS4397 clearly sounded better.
I sold the DAC1 off in a hurry, and am now playing with a $59 version with a CS4398. I laugh when I hear all the raves it gets.
