AD1955 internal attenuator

I've seen a few websites/posts say the AD1955's internal attenuator doesn't cause a loss in resolution, but no measurements to back it up. Obviously they could all be referencing the same possibly wrong source, but I have no way to tell where this rumor started.

The AD1955's datasheet is extremely quiet on the operation/implementation of the volume control.

So has anybody tried it? Listening/measuring results?

It was a long time ago but I did speak to AD engineers WRT this.
From memory there was no real DR or THD penalty up to 40dB atten
or so. Best send them an email.

It appeared to me to be a very good way to get a 2 channel fully
balanced vol control with 1 resistor variable and all in the analog
domain.

cheers
