The secondary RC filter pretty much works independently from the rest of the circuitry.
I know the F5 has a huge bandwidth. If you are already using a 1K/.0022 filter it would be better to limit the bandwidth at the F5s input circuitry. That has been discussed by Mr Pass, I believe even in his original article. 10pf across the inputs comes to mind, but I could be off. |

Tried 10pf and later 20pf,the temprature is a littel better but still a little to much.
How high can I go on the capasistor before it starts affecting the hearing area?

That's a tough question for me to answer. It's best that you post on the F5 thread to possibly get an answer from the master, NP. I built one but I really didn't like it, but don't tell Mr Pass.

I thought someone might be able to help me diagnose this issue.
I recently noticed a big difference between playback levels between my Mac Mini (which is outputting to the DAC via USB) and my Oppo 980 player. A few weeks ago I pushed my receiver to clipping (for just a moment) while using the Mini/DAC setup. Ever since, it seems that I have to "crank" the receiver to produce a normal loudness level. As a reference, -20 dB is pretty loud when using the Oppo. The Mini/DAC might need to go to -0 dB for a comparable level. There's no distortion, buzzing, humming, or odd artifacts during playback either way. The speakers seem fine. The receiver is fine. It's just odd. |
