Does anyone make an DAC/CD player that you can plug in a USB
flash drive or memory card?

Even better than a CD player, the new Squeezbox Touch has this feature.

For 300 US$/€ you'll get a netbook with 10"-screen, WLAN and 160GB HDD. Add a Terratec Aureon Dual USB sound card with optical out for 20 bucks and you're done!

If a $20 USB soundcard with optical output suits your needs, great. I'll take the dedicated audio device with 24/96 output any day of the week over a crappy flavor of the month netbook.
