Thanks for the comment.
I don't quite understand the single 5V supply Kwak clock version. There are 2 output (pin 7 & 8).
Anyway i don't think i'll be building one unless i have another CD player. The current one seems good, more detail, less harsh & improve bass extension.

here is a 5v version on Ray's website plus loads of other mods for the CD63

You can take either pin 7 or pin 8 as output!
Elso had single supply clock till version 7 but dual supply sounded slightly better.

Hi Fossil2k,

In the link below Elso posted the zip file for his version 7 Kwak clock, it includes how to set it up.

Thanks. I read that the clock need to be tuned with a 50ohm probe. How do I get a 50ohm probe??

Elso also described this in the supporting literature. Just use a 50 ohm coaxial cable and terminate it with a 50ohm resistor from conductor to shield at the scope end.

I remember reading a post by Elso awhile ago, probably here somewhere, that his clock sounds better if you feed it with an unregulated supply.

Randy, I used both and found that a pre regulated supply (before the TL431 shunt regulators on the clock) sounder better. If you try this route use a separate transformer to power just the clock and wind the mains cable for this transformer around a ferrite toroid a couple of times, but try both arrangements to make up your own mind.

Hi Richard,

Thanks. Just thinking where to get a 50ohm coax?? I only have in hand 75ohm.

Simple +- 12V psu

Hi Guys,

Here is the simple power supply I used as a pre-regulator for the Kwak clock. The capacitors before and after the Siemens common mode choke (cmc) are Rubycon ZL, with Rubycon XYA after the regulator. You can use the 100mA 78L12 TO-92 regulators as the current draw is low. I had a 2.39mH cmc on hand but most cmc's around that value are fine.

to answer a quote with a quote;

I don't have a probe so what i did was adj the tune pot from +0.5 to +0.6V.

just measure at the wiper of the 2K pot (to ground) that goes to pin 3 of the AD8561.
