SPDIF receiver with external clock

Hi,

I need to find a SPDIF receiver that accepts an external 16.9344MHz clock.

Searched and found the DIR1703, but it is no longer in production.

I'm planing on building a DAC with a master clock and then slave my TEAC drive with this clock signal.

Any ideas what and where to buy - or perhaps some one has a couple of DIR1703s for sale?

Maybe try the DIR9001? Its pretty much a direct replacement for the DIR1703 AFAIK.

A SPDIF receiver will reconstruct the clock from the SPDIF stream coming in. So would normally be the system's clock source. You really need to use a receiver with built in sample rate converter OR use an external SRC with the SPDIF receiver if you need to sync up with a different clock.

The DIR9001 does not accept an external 16.9344MHz clock from what I can se, or am I missing something?

The drive in mind, is a Teac T1 or VRDS10 and the plan is to put a low noise clock in the DAC and then feed both the receiver chip and transport with its signal.

The Wolfson WM8804/05 will do what you want, but only in software mode, otherwise the xo has to run at 12MHz. And yes it is hard to get, but available, check with Wolfson - their sales offices are quite responsive and they will tell you where you can get their parts.

AFAIK there is no other "readily" available receiver chip that is even close to being able to do what you propose.

FWIW the Wolfson chip is a very good performer.

The DIX4192 and the SRC4392 will meet your needs.
