Default Rega Apollo external clock. (Global Silicon GSL88303L )

Hi:

Iīve installed many clock upgrades but, this time I found that Rega apollo uses Global Silicon GSL88303L, I canīt find info about this chip, so I donīt know what pin is XO and waht is XI, any suggestions?

Best regards.

Check page 4 of Guido Tent's installation guide here.

It shows how to identify the input and output (using info supplied by Elso Kwak). So it came from one clock guru via another - I'd trust it!

I've also read before that you can feed the clock in via a resistor (can't remember the value though) and try both pins individually. When you find the right one, remove the resistor. May be worth searching for that info.

Hope this helps....

Re-reading your post - I assumed you'd found the two pins, but could not tell which was which.

I was told to use a 47k Value will work, but I was warned too, has anyone tried this method??

Glenn2 info supplied by Elso Kwak worked perfect I was able to find XO and XI pins I finally installed external clock y used 2 - 470K resistors to find XO then connnected clock to XI.

Old thread, but a most interesting subject.

So the hole closer to the back of the player is the clock input?

FYI:

Rega Apollo has 16.9344 crystal. The two smd capacitors to remove are on the other side.

The clock signal IN is closer to the rear of the player. There is a convenient earth point in middle.

Clock upgrade is worthwile. So is changing the 4700uf cap into better (and bigger one), bypassing it with a film cap and changing the two 1000uf caps to better ones.

I really must add one thing, because there are lots of Apollo owners out there.

The two small 0.1uf bypass caps you see at the down right corner, they are crucial! Change them to the best you can afford. Better caps are larger of course, instead of the original place a better one may be to solder the other leg of the cap straight to the regulator. Look for the most convenient point.

Sorry for delay, yes that is the input for clock, You should remove capacitors near old crystal oscillator.
