Default D'Amore Engineering Vu-meter? HELPME PLEASE!

Hello, I am almost crazy to build this type of vu-meter.
It is an analog VU-meters, but done with the LEDs ..
here is a picture:

and here's a video that shows it in action!

I'm Italian, I think is very difficult and expensive, buy one of these gizmos and get them here in Italy.
There are so many customs charges and fees to be paid, and the expense would be unjustified.

Some of you would know tell me how to make one?
I can also use normal LEDs instead of those surface mount.

Maybe you could show me a wiring diagram?
I would prefer to use it with an audio signal, not with a microphone.
thank you ...

Look up the data sheets for the LM3914, 3915, 3916 etc bar graph drivers. For each LED you would simply arrange to drive a string of LED's (you might need to arrange a simple transistor driver to run so many LED's in series from a higher rail supply) and physically mount them in rows.

You would have to test and arrange the circuit for your use but that seems an easy way to do it.

Think about it, this is nothing more than a common row of LEDs VU meter. The only difference is they made the line in a curve, and instead of one LED at each step, they light up six.
