You havent swapped pins 1 and 2 on the XLRs have you? Do you have any pics?

Hey guys,

So I've taken off my dunce hat, and connected the shields to each other. Signal level rises significantly, though it's still quite noisy.

As I said before, any connection to audio ground makes my signal disappear altogether.

Here are a few pics. Ignore the layout of the boards, nothing is mounted yet!
