I've covered old chipboard boxes with thinish plywood as test boxes, but for the effort involved you might as well start from scratch....

Impedance varies with frequency, use impedance plots of your drivers and make crossover calculations using the actual impedance of the driver at the crossover frequency |

I've tried to rebuild/copy existing speakers in "new" boxes, 3/4" MDF (glue heavily and clamped) and thrown away the 1/2" particle board or plastic enclosures many a time.
I haven’t had one work as well as the original so far. So many drivers out there now; kits, modeling programs, etc. really no need to rebuilding them. |
