I am having difficulty with hookup on my t-amp with this panel jack (3.5mm).

I asked partsexpress and their answer is:

The #1 terminal (short silver) is Tip (left channel +), the #2 terminal (gold/copper) is Ring (right channel +), and the remaining terminal (long silver) is Sleeve (ground/common), in regard to standard TRS wiring.

Is this correct?, I thought otherwise.

thanks.

Sounds reasonable... the long one is "ground" and should connect to the main body of the socket.

As to which is left and right of the other two... well, there are only two choices :)

Try it with headphones and a DVM on ohms to "click" the phones and identify L and R

DVM is Digital Multimeter :) An analoge one will do just as well.

You can't really go wrong. The long terminal is ground. That is the same as the outer part of the RCA sockets. The other two pins are the left and right. If you get those wrong then all that happens is the channels are reversed... in which case swap them over.
