Default How to even the fit of a detachable panel

Haha - this thread is kind of the analogue of me asking how to make a detachable panel!

Basically, my MDF detachable panel has a bit of an uneven fit - one corner of the cabinet being about a mm lower than the opposite one - hence there is a slight rock in the panel. I guess those sheets of 1200x1200x25mm MDF were just a bit too heavy for me to handle through my bench saw! Heavy suckers they were.

I've PVA'ed a thin strip of MDF to the lower edge of the cabinet (the strip is veneer thickness), the idea being to build it up and then sand it so that its even with the other side. Any hairline joins between the veneer and the cabinet, I'll just wood putty up - and since I'm painting it, I hope it will disappear.

Also, a thin strip of adhesive felt between the lid and the cabinet I think would also help disguise the slight unevenness.

Am I setting myself up for failure with this approach? Is there a better way to fix this?

It's hard to visualize the details of your issue without a picture or sketch so the best method can be recommended.
