Default Novice soldering question

I have been assembling a DAC I bought in kit form on eBay. Almost done except for mounting the power supply and socket and soldering the wires to the RCA connector. The connector has flat spades and I am unsure how to attach the wires. I am concerned that just a blob of solder connecting the wire to the blade will just come off. Is this correct? Should I just go for it - place the wire against the blade, heat with my little soldering iron, apply solder, and hope for a good result? Or should I bend the blades into a curl so I can securely fasten the wire before soldering? Punch a little hole? Any ideas would be appreciated - thank you.

Hello,
The wires are most likely stranded. I would strip the insulation exposing a length of wire long enough to tin with your soldering iron and bend into a “U” with your needle nose pliers. Crimp the “U” for a snug fit onto the spade part of the RCA connector. Apply heat to the spade and tined wire, apply flux core solder and watch the solder wick around the spade. All should be good, a wrap of wire around the spade for physical strength and electrical connection.

BTW welcome!
DT
All just for fun!

This RCA connector is intended for PCB mount. Do not use it for wire connection. Use the type on the picture instead. Where are those red/white/black wires coming from? Hopefully not from the power supply
