Arrow How to design my amplifier myself

Hi , I am not a good analog linear circuit designer. I am an embedded system project designer. But i want to design my MOSFET or BJT amplifier myself. So how to become an expert in amplifier design?

Please someone Give me your best study material related with amplifier design with design example and explanation. Thank you... I am waiting for your replay

I would start by building someone elses design and get a feel for how the different parts of the amp work. Something like a class AB amp with LTP, VAS and bias with maybe just a single output pair to start with.

I learned a lot from other peoples designs and some of them I managed to improve because they were unstable !

Hi, udhay.

The first thing thing we ask when designing an amplifier is:

What is the output power and what is the load?

This tells us what the supply voltage must be.

Do you understand Ohm's law? Do you know what is meant by r.m.s? Can you calculate power in watts?

In order to design an amplifier you must practise these calculations, or at least develop an unshakeable mental picture of what is happening in the circuit in reality.

An integrated audio amplifier is a cascade of stages, from low power to high. Each stage must satisfy the drive requirements of the next, down to the power provided by the source. There are a number of basic configurations of components from which the stages are assembled. These are distinguished by their input and output impedances (resistances).

In order to appreciate the implications of input and output impedances an understanding and familiarity with Norton's and Thevenin's theorems is required.

Amplifier stages are often coupled together with capacitors, and bypasses or bootstrapping are important to gain, so an understanding of reactance is required, and inductors are commonly studied at the same time. The Argand diagram, power factor, simple filters and imaginary numbers are often touched on.

When your understanding approaches this level you can begin to calculate values for the primary configurations, in the case of BJTs, the common emitter and emitter follower. At this point you will begin to become concerned with AC and DC voltage and power gain, bias, bandwidth and noise.
