I put up a flat panel tv. I hooked up an HD cable box to the tv via hdmi cable. I hooked up an Appletv box to the tv via hdmi. I ran the rca speaker cable from the tv audio out port to the receiver and attached it to the MD/Tape audio connection on the back of the receiver. Problem is the sound is still coming out of the tv and not the speakers...
With this setup shouldn't the sound come from the speakers when I select MD/Tape on the receiver? I thought if all the devices are attached to the tv and the tv is attached to the receiver all devices would play through the tv and then out the speakers. The receiver is a Sony FM Stereo, FM/AM Receiver STR-DE197 and the TV is an RCA 32” LCD/DVD combo (L32HD35)... Please let me know what you all think. It's rather urgent... Thanks. |

You likely have to turn off the speakers on the TV menu. You'll also have to turn the receiver up quite a ways before you hear a lot. I hope the TV has a variable audio out jacks then you can use only the volume on the TV remote.
