Not possible for me, I'm afraid. It's right in the middle of a block of exams. The joys of being a teenager.

OK, sorry to hear it Rich (and Chris!), but you'll have fun going away no doubt!
There'll need to be a little more interest in this or it won't be worth doing. I could potentially postpone it but I don't know for how long. My Arcam Alpha CD player is now basically done so if hearing a high-end CD player is of interest, there will be... well, more than one I think. I'm going to try and get my mk2 open baffles to a state of useful listenability. Simon

I don't get it, the 2007 meet was popular enough. Maybe because no mods are involved it's not official enough for some members to feel it's worth coming along. All are welcome though!
A couple more days then I think we have to call it quits, I can't say I didn't try.

Hi Simon.
I hate to say this but it is looking bad for me too. My Mum isn't too good so I may be otherwise committed by then. I really wanted to hear your CD player too. John |

Hi John,
I'm sorry to hear that. Let's wait and see what happens, a new date may be possible yet. Simon

Hi Simon
Ta for that. I will keep an eye on the thread and solder when I can. The DX is ready for first power up and test measurements but I killed a meter and need 2 to set the bias apparently. I need to borrow one before I go any further. http://s703.photobucket.com/albums/w...nkMounting.jpg John |

Looking good John, DIY amps is an area I'd like to get more into in the future. Is that the beasty designed by the chap in Brazil who has a thing for old amps?

Hi Simon.
Aye that's the man, he goes by the name of DestroyerX on here, this one is the DX. Greg's Web Site He has a newer design that he feels sounds better than this one, the ST or ES. This one has the simplest pcb for my first try at etching and promises bigger bass than my chip amp gives. The "everyday" speakers are 2 ways with woeful sensitivity so I think they are too current hungry for the 3875s. Jill (my other half) likes big bass so it was one of the factors that meant I could justify yet another amp build. I have run out of rooms to put them in now. Even the bathroom has has waterproof speakers mounted in the bath panel being run by LM1875s in the next room. John |
