Well, I'll be the first to report. The 3rd annual BAF was a resounding success!

Mark Hidley's presentation on crossovers was very informative and convinced me to run my speakers either bi-amped or tri-amped from now on!

The high point of the day for me was hearing, albeit for too brief a time, Bernt's newest creation. His custom turntable and tube preamp were just starting to really shine when the amp being featured developed technical diffuculties.

Mark's announcement that next year's venue will feature multiple listening rooms was music to my ears!

It was great seeing so many nice people in one place. Hope to see you all again next year!

I forgot to mention that we missed you SY! There was WAY too much silicon and not enough glass! I know that wouldn't have been the case had you been here.

Missed SY, too. From my view there was a more or less equal sprinkling of sand and glass, including a first - two transmitting tube SE amps using 211s. More impetus to get my GM-70 monoblocks going.

Coolness!

Can you tell me what it was that was billed here as "The worlds most exotic and simple Amp"?

Thanks!

That would be the amp that Nelson Pass dreamed up that is so simple a Geico salesman could build it. I expect to see more details that I can repeat on the Pass Labs thread.

Ah! I thought Nelson was likely behind it and figured it was the amp using a single depletion mode MOSFET that was mentioned elsewhere.

Thanks!

Yeppo - an excruciatingly simple depletion mode amp, built with whatever was lying about (though with Nelson, that can be quite a lot). "Non optimal" components were deliberately and gleefully selected. The results made some very nice noises come out of some Lowther full-range field-coil drivers. I got a chance to make some noises come out of them, too...

I won't tell, but he will, soon enough. I don't want to steal his thunder. What he really wants to do is to get people off their lazy backsides and actually build something by showing them how simple it can be. The amp was shockingly good for what it was.
