Please bring both speakers, this time I'll bring my system to audition them! Really!

Sure thing! I will bring both ScanSpeaks. It should be noted that these have large impedence swings and relatively low sensitivity. However Sy's preamp and Variac's F4 should accomidate them well.

I will bring Mark Brasfield's LM4702 solid state amp. (He may be able to attend.) I just talked to Joe Jaques and he can bring a DXT/ZA14 speaker that we developed; it's a very easy to build LR2 - waveguide speaker. He can also bring his 6L6 amp (AB and feedback) that plays well with my speakers. He can also bring a OPPO disk player.

The Volta room should be a happening place with many mix and match combinations!

What I plan on bringing:
Several 4'x4' DIY acoustic panels.
Various power and audio cables
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/subw...iy-speaker-mini-bass-array-module-teaser.html
and possibly a Danley SM-60F to use with the Sub and also could be use to test people's amps(it sounds really good).

I could bring a Technics sl-1200m3d and a phono preamp(rane).

I also will be bringing my presonus 1818 sound interface and my computer and my shitty reference mic. This rig and the sub won't be there until shortly after 12 noon. I will drop off the other stuff at 8:20 or so.
-Matt

ps I could bring a soldering iron and related stuff for people to use. Would that be helpful?

I'd like to request a table. I am bringing my LCDuino system components, spdif switch, cirrus 8ch vol controller/preamp, r2r relay attenuator/preamp, some android tablets and wifi networking: all showing a networked remote control system and MPD music player, integrated.

I need at least half a table for this, but a whole table would really work better for me. thanks!

btw, I could bring these if there's a need to. I wasn't planning on bringing spkrs, but I do like the sound of these DIY very much. zaph l18 from prefab cabinets, pretty much the full kit from madisound.

I have them in active (only), so I would need to bring the whole setup: behringer dcx2496, deq2496, 4ch chip-amp and vol control for 4ch. its a lot to drag along ;) but I never built a passive for it, so it has to be run active.

is it worth dragging along?

some of the toys I plan to bring along (pics):

spdif switch enabled DAC, using i2c for control of input port and showing spdif samplerate using my arduino board and my code (going to discrete leds, in this example). also a cirrus 3318 DIY 8ch vol control chip being planted into my preamp chassis (a test chassis and now moved to my better LCD/IR controlled chassis). its using 2 arduinos, in fact, one on the lcd side and one on the embedded cirrus board side, using a serial link between them. I'm just finishing some working code this week, in fact ;)

this might be a fun demo for people to see: just now (literally, last half hour or so) I got some code working that connects my preamp project to linux/mpd and usb/spdif sound cards. ie, you can run mpdroid (for example) on your phone, connect to my mpd server, pick songs and then vary the volume using the android slider and the preamp will follow it in real life. conversely, you can twist the rotary encoder on the preamp or use the IR remote and the linux sound system (alsa) will update ITS vol slider, which you can see if you have an alsamixer or android nearby.

no digital attenuation; all this is done in analog but via rs232 serial control between your mpd linux player and the preamp I'd working on.

I can also bring the 'usb audio widget' with my spdif-out (wolfson) mod. it seems to work even though its a bit of a comical build.

its capable of 24/192k over usb, so if anyone has high res digital files, this would be a good source for it. your pc does have to support UAC2, though.

it can do coax and opto even though the opto is not shown in this pic.

OK to bring stuff to get rid of?

Don't know if this is an appropriate place to ask, or if this would be an appropriate venue, but if I brought a car load or two of raw speaker drivers, etc. to get rid of, would that be an OK thing to do? They'd be free, but I probably wouldn't be able to stay long. So, I'd probably have to leave them at the event.

Ron,

Burning Amp traditionally has been THE place to distribute excess audio goodies since Nelson Pass showed up with a truckload of stuff at the first event. Later NHT gave us another literal truckload of speaker drivers and crossover components.

So bring your stuff and we'll store it until the give-a-way at 4 PM... and bless you- the tradition continues... This is the place where people will actually USE the stuff you bring! Just explain the situation when you arrive, and have them contact Mark (Variac) and I'll send the minions down to help load the stuff

Holy Cow indeed! Any speaker 6 feet tall and appearing to weigh over 200 lbs get in! I'll assign you a space . Look at post 2 on this thread..
The DeForest room is small , is that the best place for these? Every room can have 2 systems on each end, so I could put you in another room..
What's best?
