I built my first case to transplant my sonic t amp
and would like to start building some of my own
circtuits and components. I know how to solder and
would like to build my own 12 volt power supply.

Is there a good 'recipe' for building my own 12 volt dc
power supply?
I want to eventually build my own amps but want to start
small a project like a power supply.

thanks again and any advice is greatly appreciated.
I have learned a great deal from just lurking around these forums.

If im not mistaken, t amp are class D right? hmmmmm a simple bridge rect + filter cap IS quiet sufficient..... you dont need regulated powersupply ... as what I have known and learned ..

T-amps work best between 12v and 13.8v, and die at 14.4v IIRC.
Not a very big margin for error there, so would believe an unregulated linear supply would be far too risky.

For Tripath chips, folks also seem to prefer switch mode power supplies (which are very hard to DIY, but can be bought off the shelf cheaply) or batteries (which hardly involve any DIY). So putting an effort into a linear supply may not be worth it.

I'd suggest getting an off-shelf or surplus 12v SMPS or a battery, and then experiment with board modifications and off-board stiffening caps.
