Is 4.2 amps (12volt) too much for a t-amp to handle?
im a little freaked out to plug it in. |

The voltage is the force with which the power supply pushes power into the amp. Too much voltage can be bad.
The current rating of a power supply is an indication of its capability. It will simply max out when asked for more than 4.2 amperes by what's connected to it. (T-amps shouldn't ask for that much current anyway, AFAIK.) It's just an indication of how much headroom the supply has. In short, there's no inherent danger in current capacity. More is, in general, better. If the power supply stays below 13 volts or so, which it should, you'll be perfectly fine. |

You should be careful if it's not regulated. If it is regulated, than the amp rating is just current capability. If it is NOT regulated, than the low current voltage might be really large (like 18v) and it may damage your t-amp.
