Hi Folks,
I've put together the Charlize in the self made case and I'm playing it with my Ipod MINI (192bit files). I have connected my Tannoy Mercury 2s to it just to see what it will sound like. I eventually want to use it with Visaton B200 in open baffle or horn enclosures. When I play music though Tannoys at over 50% volume set on the Ipod, things don't sound that great. It's actually painful to listen to it. I wonder if it's the lack of brake in, or the 89-85 efficiency of the speakers or just the nature of the amp. Any suggestions? Thanks, Rafal |

Rafal,
There are quite a number of Charlize users in this forum that reported very good result driving the Visaton B200 in open baffle. Good source and a pair of suitable pair of speaker will bring out the full potential of Charlize.

Thanks,
I hope that the Charlize will be powerful enough. I have been playing it daily and I think I's braking in. I am just worried a bit that If i use a noth filter in my OB that will lower the efficiency of the speakers too much. My notch filter will be 68mH||6.8 ohm . The source I have should be pretty good. It is a Musical Fidelity CDPre24. |

Don't be affraid, Charlize can handle B200 with notch filter without a problem. As I wrote on audiocircle.com, I've got such a setup: B200 in OB (with 1mH||0.68R), Charlize, preamp E88CC, Monica2 DAC, Philips CD670 and sound is really enjoyable, even rock music sounds OK. |
