Xron, if you are going to use that long of an input cable you will probably need an amp with balanced inputs (not most stereo amps). You could also use a balanced to unbalanced converter.

i am curious about that "New IC protection"...i have thought that Tripath chips itself are very good internaly protected :-) (if they haven't hardwired fail to mute) Does anybody here know how its supposed to work? Or is it only good PR feature? Or is the relay part of solution for "self-killing" amps problem?

Seems to be less components in the new version and a simpler circuit. This would probably result in better sound and easier modding. I am probably getting one to play with.

Where'd all of the resistors go? SM perhaps? I'm curious if you can still do anything other than the toroid/capacitor mods (lots of room for supercaps!).

I totally forgot about this thread...

I just ordered one of these new ones. I've had 12 so far. The worst that I've had to deal with was one that came with a knock-off preamp (which sounded horrible)

Anyways, it looks like they changed the preamp. It needed the relay really badly (I remember somebody fit a relay into the old one). I guess that they're still manufacturing these chips somehow.

I'll post back with some pics in about a week and let you guys know how it sounds.

Default Hello

Hey guys, I am having a weird issue with my Lepai. I have been messing with it and hadn't been able to get any sound/noise/clicking to come out of it at all. However I just pulled the adapter out of the wall to check it for this post and I got about a second of music. So I get sound for about a second now every time i unplug it. Any ideas about what is wrong?

If i flip the power switch it just dies, but if i leave the power on and pull the plug it plays. I'm thinking it has to do with the mute circuit, what do you think?

It is totally stock. Im planning to pull the diode that is in front of the 2020 that connects pin 11 (mute) to pin 18(fault). Im not to sure where to go from there though... ground 11? (but i dont know what the rest of that circuit does) Or do I just pull the diode and leave it alone?
