Multi Channel T-Amp Input considerations
I'd like to run my T-Amps to actively drive my open baffle dipole
speakers (highs and mids).
Subwoofers (100Hz crossover) do have there own electronics!
Currently the tweeter is passively crossed over at 8kHz with a 6db filter in front of it. The wideband speaker runs open - no filtering at all. Just filtererd by the natural open baffle rolloff.
Both are running on the same channel.
Seperating them might give some advantages:
I was thinking to change the input caps of the two T-Amp channels to have a
1. Full active Setup - with some kind of bi-wiring in place and beside that getting the same speaker- cable length.
2. To get rid of one cap in the Highs-path, Coupling Input Cap=Crossover Cap
3. To get lower value caps in the mids-path and highs
(small high quality caps would be much faster and cheaper)
4. Bass and mids signals wouldn't have to pass the amps.
5. No further phase shift
Considering a 20k input impedance:
1. Tweeter channel
10nF and 20k input impedance gives me the required filter as passive line filter.
2. Mids channel
100nf would be sufficiant to have the crossover point at ca. 80Hz.
The only disadvantage I see, is the paralleling of both inputs,
which lowers the impdance seen by the DAC. I guess the resullting 10k would still be sufficiant.
I wonder if somebody can confirm above thinking, if this could work. Perhaps somebody tells me if its worth the effort.
