And it came vented? Their price list showed $25 extra to punch vent holes.

Yes, at first I found it a bit confusing also. Look at this link Par-Metal This is the way the 20 series comes (with the vents). Actually, single vent rows on the top like mine, not the double as shown. If you need them to punch holes or do any other metal work, it is extra.
Made a mistake on the shipping from CA, they are in NJ. So NJ to VT still $52 and change total. To Chicago, maybe a bit more but they are only a few lbs.

My only qualm with their cases is the texture of the aluminum; it has a very coarse grain to it.

On the black anodized versions you will actually see a light powdery residue (skin, eww) if you rub your fingers across it. I hate to even touch the thing, it just feels bad.

Default Integrated Class D Amp with Media Player

Dear All

I'm currently working on a design for an integrated class D amp with media player. Now I would like to share my work with you.

Supply section:
- 2x 150W AC/DC switched converter with wide range input
- buffer section with low impedance capacitors
- filter section with hf filter capacitors

Power amp section:
- circuitry based on IRF reference design
- 2x150W @4Ohm
- half bridge

Media player section:
- MP3/AAC/WMA/FLAC from SD card or USB stick
- Webradio with LAN streaming
- AMOLED touchdisplay

Appliance:
- 2 rotary encoder with push function for standby, volume, source and mute
- AMOLED touchdisplay

Case:
- anodised CNC machined aluminium

So far the mechanical design is done. The development work on the electronics and the firmware is ongoing.

Will it be running RockBox or was that just a convenient image to use?

I'm actually testing a Linux/ARM platform with Rockbox running on but it's not yet settled because the OS is a bit laggy on this particular hardware. As an alternative I see an approach on same platform without OS but dedicated hardware decoder. Here the HMI wouldn't be so nice but also less laggy.

If the Linux based approach comes true then Wifi would be not a big deal by using a USB stick as Wifi hardware. Otherwise I rather don't see it.
