Appropriate speakers for tripath

I've used a modded t-amp for a while now. It's miles better than the
Marantz PM66KI-S that I was using. Had to listen to all my music
again - great.

I think the time has come to show a bit of commitment and sell the
Marantz.

Currently I have Tannoy Revolution R1 speakers. I always thought they
weren't that good until the t-amp. They now sound great.

Is it worth upgrading anyway?? Having saved money in the amp area -
does the t-amp work well with expensive speakers??

I saw some Epos Es30 on ebay near me - is that OTT?

One of things that you may consider is the sensitivity and efficiency of the Rev1s. At 87dB@2.87 Volts (equivalent to 1watt@1Meter for 8 Ohms), you may find that the amp runs out of steam.

Depending on your room, and the rest of your equipment, you may find a more efficient speaker may give you better long term service. I'm waiting for a T-amp to arrive, and I will be using it with Hemp Audio FR8DIY fullrangers. (94 dB @1W@1m). I'll have a 7db "gain" over you if we are using the same output, same Tripath chip-based amp.

But, and here's a big BUT, if you are satisfied with the output in terms of level in your room, Unless you MUST have the ES30s, I'd hold off. Check out decibel dungeon (nuuk's site) and see what his experiences are ,or email him directly (or try an email through diyaudio). He has done a T-amp review roundup for tnt , look for some comments there. I personally think the T-amps generally will work best with more efficient speakers, but until I get it all up and running, I can't say from direct experience. What's everybody else run?

I do know that the Omega speakers with efficient drivers are supposed to be a good match as well.
