I've been watching the Class D amp wars for awhile.... been very intrigued ever since seeing info on the early ZAPPulse modules... watching all the flavors evolve and the battling reviews... and been leaning towards getting a pair of UCD400's to try.
One place I've been watching is Electronic Visionary Systems (www.tweakaudio.com), where Ric Schultz has provided tweaky gear and mods for a few years. He was originally planning to make some custom ICE-based amps, but later switched to offering modified NuForce amps. Then I looked this afternoon and saw that as of yesterday, he posted that he's planning to start offering custom UCD-based amps... see his comments here: http://www.tweakaudio.com/EVS-2/Whats_New.html Hmmm.... time to order those 400's, huh? Greg in Minneapolis P.S. In the interest of full-disclosure, I have no business interest in EVS, but do use a Panasonic S-47 modified by him... and I have a lot of respect for his work and ears. |
