Driving a subwoofer with a sonic t-amp

I'm new to the audio world, so please excuse the newbie question.

I have a small passive sub that came with a home theatre setup. When the receiver of that system died, I bought a new receiver. However, the new receiver is ment to output to powered subs, so I haven't been able to use my passive sub. Would it be possible to use a sonic t-amp to drive my sub?

I think you've gotten no answers becuase this is completly the wrong use for a Sonic Impact.

Kinda like you could power your truck with a chainsaw motor, but you wouldn't like the results. Gas milage would be nice, tho.

If you want to find a good amp for your sub, have a look at the "Plate Amps" over at Parts Express

Yeah... so I went ahead and tried it anyway.

It wasn't too impressive when I first hooked it up, but I did an input caps mod and then it sounded MUCH better. Haven't had much time to test it with dvds or music however.

I'll take a look at the plate amps, though, thanks.

Tripath amps that do supply enough power (not Sonic Impact) are especially strong with bass. You might want to try the 41hz amp5. It's a more powerful, better-sounding version of Tripath.
