I was going to build an amp 1 because of the 4ohm capability which greatly expands the options with DIY speakers. There is a catch with it requiring an oddball transformer 300VA 2x22V in order to run 4ohm. There are 2x22V 185VA transformers at Digikey but there really aren't any public power supply designs which show how to hook up 2 transformers to get +-30V.
I am back to picking up a panasonic SA70 reciever, yes it limits me to 6ohm or higher speakers but I think I will be happy with it based on my experience with the XR SA25.
