That does it! The next person to bring out another one of these damn things is in BIG trouble! Sorry, you have another one to include. It looks very promising.

Do they know how much work it is to burn all these amps in and make cases to put them in?

But yes, it does look tempting!

Add this one to your list made by the fellow that makes the Monica DAC for Redwine Audio...
That's one's already on the list!

Well, at first, I didn't think the class-T amps were as good as the GC's but they have won me over and I have to admit that's what I'll be using in future! Now all I have to do is decide which is best!

Anybody want to buy half-a-dozen Gainclones?

Me, given the fact that I'm not convinced yet.. that is, not at all...
And it's difficoult to transform a Tripath into current drive..

Ciao, George

[though I did not change the input caps, yet]

Yes, so many kits.

I wonder if anyone has been able to identify the sonic character of the TA2024 vs. the TA2020 and TA2021.

I recall reading somewhere that the TA2024 had more "magic" than one of the other Tripath chips, but I don't recall which one it was compared to or in what context.

Apparently, Yeo at diyparadise listened to all of these Tripath chips and settled on the TA2020 for his Charlize offering.

The AMP3 uses the TA2021B and Audioconstuire offer kits with both the TA2020 and TA2024.

It may be way too early in the game to put a finger on it, but it would be great to identify the sonic characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses of each of these chips.

Looks like Nuuk is taking the first steps in this. Hat off to Nuuk!

Best,
KT

Please don't worry, I was only making a joke of it and realised what you meant. I am amazed at how well you all speak English when it's not your native language!

That's how I felt for a while but then something changed and I found myself liking the class-T amps very much. It will be interesting to see if you are won over too George.

From the little I have heard so far, 'the sound of chip' is probably masked by the sound of the PSU and possibly some of the external components as well! Rather like trying to distinguish the taste of chicken from different sources in a hot curry! (And I'm a vegetarian! ).

Nuuk,
Exactly! All the stuff around the chips is now playing a bigger part in what we hear than the chips themselves. Things like input caps, output filter components and power supply configuration would all need to be the same to arrive at any meaningful conclusions. All these pieces/parts would need to be very good or any one of them could mask the chip differences!

Is it the computers or the hi-fi which is the addictive element Roger? Don't answer now, go to bed and sleep on it! (I still haven't worked it out myself!)
