I was more thinking about starting with the theory
How does it work, what topologies exist (the advantages and drawbacks of each), how to build one (which chips?)
Some kind of tutorial.
I've browsed some manufacturers websites, but didn't find much.
Linear: found ,othing
National: has 1 class D amp
Onsemi: nothing above 1W
TI: nothing above 20W

There were posted many links recently.
Theory:

And a "book":
Title: High Efficiency Audio Power Amplifiers; design and practical use
Author: Ronan van der Zee
ISBN: 90-36512875
(I loaded it down from intrnet, but don't know where.)
Devices:
philips (TDA8920 2*80W PWM amp IC)
www.tripath.com (PWM controllers+drivers up to ~2kW)
www.intersil.com (drivers)
www.irf.com (drivers+MOSFETs)
www.advancedpower.com (MOSFETs)
etc...

Class D amps
If you're a beginner, first build an amp someone else designed. There are too many heart breaks in making the first amp you ever build one that you try to design. There are several good schematics available at www.schematicsforfree.mattsoft.net in the audio circuits section.

Did you find this one?

I suppose you need more power... no?
Take all the energy you have, and self control, and try to read entire forum
I did that twice, only Solid State, now trying to read all Chip amps too.
I think, you will colect all the needed informs want to have.
There's a lot of threads that will help you, put them in condition to be readed off line in the Internet Explorer ,and others too, and take notes..... i think will be very good, and will answer more than 80 percent your needs.
regards,
Carlos

I think UcD is looking pretty good as a front-runner DIY favorite.
Sometimes I open several pages in new windows and break my Internet connection for a while if I am trying to catch up on a thread.
