Hello.

From several month ago, i have found Class D amp for me.
Finally i arrived journey's goal.

For comparison amps, bought its from Aliexpress and ebay for 3 months,
TPA3116, TDA7498, TPA3255(EVM), TAS5613, STA516B (AB32516).

First time, i bought 3116, 7498. 3116 was just bought, not use.
7498, It's not bad. but, when it's bass sound reached some area,
gave feeling stuffy. maybe it was caused by circuit design and Chinese
electronic parts on PCB.

Then i wanted new 7498 have well designed circuit. But, by seller's problem,
it had to changed to TAS5613. It was better than cheap 7498.
i had used 4 months, But, still not satisfied in detail.

I gathered more information about Class D amps form diyaudio.
Got information 3255, bought it. and same time EVM, too. haha.
During wait delivery, i saw post mentioned AB32512.
I interested, but, there were 3 models 32512, 32514, 32516.
32512'sound quality was verified many people.
then i wondered how about 32516 in new line up.

Finally, i had six amps, tested, then concluded 32516 is best in i have.
3255 was good. EVM was better than 3255 from China.
But, 3255's tone was quiet for me. Both were same.

and 32516, it was good. powerful at all range, and detailed.
In long time, i excited first time.

my speaker's output is 100W. any amps can drive it in my small room.
Compared with amps' output, it not large. it couldn't make 32516 warm.
it stayed in cold. same reason, Meanwell 600SE-48 was overpowered.
Too much fan noise, i installed fan controller, then down fan speed to lowest.
But during play music, it stayed in cold, too.

Someone interest to 32516, i recommend smaller power than expected.

Thanks!!

Hi misago

please be aware that you stress the TPA3255 with to high voltage. official all of these chinese boards are introduced with 50V but this is not ok - because the regulation chip on it is just made for 40v max.

if you are interessded in modify some boards....here in this forum it is the right place...:D
What is wrong with TPA3255?

chris

Thanks for your reply.

You gave me missed points.
I will try to fix its. :D

Hi misago, can you please confirm what power supply you use with this sure amplifier AA-AB32516 ?

its a bit confusing as on sure website it says:
1500W@2Ohm 96V DC THD+N 1%
and then table says again something different: min 48v, typ 60v ,max 72V

some informations in that site are wrong.

I using Meanwell 600 SE 48V adjusted to 50V.
And Industrial power supply have fan noise, i had to use fan controller.
If you will use speaker under max 200W, i recommend same voltage,
lower output.

During power on with my system 32516, 100W (Max 200W) speakers,
power never warmed up with lower fan speed than factory setting(fixed speed) .

It means Meanwell se 48V was over spec.

You can choose small power.

Meanwell powers

if it so, why you do not recommend the max current, do you think it is doesn't matter? ;)
Meanwell 600 SE 48V able for <12.5A, that's mean for 2 channel by 4ohm the rail voltage should drop to 12.5A*2ohm=25V. Huge capacitors tank could help a little but anyway Meanwell 600 SE 48V looks like a wrong choice for <8ohm speakers.

I'm using 8ohm 100W speakers.
Meanwell 600 SE 48V is too much overpowered for these speakers.

Max current is not important.
If you can play music, with 500 watt speakers, max volume,
you have to use more powerful power supply.
but most of all are play as 30~50% volume as max by environment.
