If you look at the specs for these rather handy little 4x100w amps you see they are rated for an operating temperature of 0Cmin, 20Ctyp and 50Cmax. Question is what does this temperature relate to?. Heatsink temperature or ambient temperature. On a stinking hot day (35C) it doesn't take much pushing to get the heatsink temp over 50C. I notice that the STA508 chip these use has a operating range to 90C and athermal alert output that triggers at 130C.
Where does the 50C come in?.

That's the ambient temperature. Hope your local temp doesn't get to 122F.
