Right, im now in possession of a boost step-up thingy....(yes i really did just call it that!)
So i decided to play about and gave it a regulated 9v and wired up a lm386 circut, results were actually exactly the same as with the 5 volts which was interesting to learn! im going to assume this was down to the fact its a lm386 and not a great chip but handy to test and get used to it all!
So onto the next bill.....im thinking about a tda 2822m as this is something i had and it worked pretty well when i used it for testing, however! im still on the same boat as before and still want to build a loud but small in size/voltage amp.
So can i get suggestion on a cheap but good class d amp? i dont want to use alot of voltage but i think the sweet spot for me is between 9 and 12v.
thanks!

Still TPA3116 (or ..18, ..30)
Would be good to know exactly what were those results...

Find a PCB with the TDA8932, it'll work down to 10V and sounds great in the bass at least. But best use it with a fairly high impedance speaker, definitely not 4ohm or less.
