The SMSL 50 is a great sounding amp. I prefer it to the Topping TP21 and Dayton DA100. It has more punch than the others. They all sound excellent but the SMSL has the sonic edge in my opinion. The knobs on all of these feel a bit cheap (compared to my Cary Audio tube gear which cost thousands) but they all function well.

My SMSL doesn't sit flat (but since the sound is so good I don't care). The Topping is the best built of the three. The Dayton looks very nice and is also well made but one channel plays louder than the other at very low volumes.

I purchased a Lepai years ago and the quality of the knobs was so poor I simply returned it without ever turning it on.
