Amping the Hand Truck PA

Hi,
i run a small outdoor party machinery.
The best (the most potent) setup i built so far contains of:

2x Cubo12
1x 10" in closed cab
1x 1" tweeter horn
(all drivers 8Ohm)

The frequencies are filtered with a diy active analog crossover.

I have 5 sla batteries each providing ~6.5V when fully charged.
So a total of 32.5V (more like 32.0V) is the maximum voltage available atm.

I tried several class d modules like TDA749x and TPA311x (a TAS5611 should arrive within the next few days).
All of them sounded quite good.
I was quite happy with cheap TDA7498 like this
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

They provided enough SPL for other setups i used before.
But with the above mentionend setup of cabinets, i wanted to stress the woofers a bit more.
But as soon as the SPL i want is reached, heavy distortion kicks in.
It sounds like something is rattling inside the cabinet.
I thought a not properly mounted bolt or a screw was inside the cubo.
This week i was lucky to have two of these babies at home:

That was like an eye opener.
The cabinets and the active filters are ok.
The amping is by far the weakest link in the chain.
One thing i tried was to change the inductors on the class d module.....no effect.

Are there any ideas?
Has someone tried the TDA7498 at max output and can report about experiences with distortion?

The amps i'm currently looking at are:

1. TAS5630 PBTL:
TAS5630 Subwoofer 600W D Type OPA1632DR TL072 Amplifier-in Amplifier from Consumer Electronics on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

+ easy to power with 4x 12V batteries
+ 2Ohm possible = 4 cubos possible on one channel
+ price is on an alltime low atm

- no experiences with that board in the forums
- not 100% sure about the preamp thing; should be possible to omit it completely; no info what it does besides low-pass.

2. IRS2092 (like L25D, IRAUD200, ....)
Assembled mono L25D Power Amplifier board IRS2092 IRFB4020PBF (one channel)-in Amplifier from Consumer Electronics on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

+ said to be sounding nice
+ 2 Cubos possible on one channel
+ price is absolutly fair
+ 3 of them could power the system as it is, 4 if i double up everything

- needs 8 sla batteries
- hard to chose a board (not really a '-')

L15D might be a good choice.

Seems like it would work with 8 sla batteries (while the previously mentioned L25D would require at least 10 batteries).

Another thought is to use voltage boost converters.
But i'm not sure about those things.
I use the same supply for two amp modules and a preamp.
With only one converter in front of an amp everything goes crazy.
Seems like they have to be decoupled from the rest of the circuit, but i do not know how....

Are you saying when you used the pro rack amp, the amp distortion problems you had went away?

Exactly!
The described setup of two cubo12, one low-mid 10" woofer and a tweeter horn was last weekend on the reggae garden party of my friend's sister.
We had the pro amps once more and everything was nice and clean.
Enough headroom on both the speakers and the amps.
Amping with our battery-setup is still a problem.
We have the finger on the trigger for these IRS2092 amps right now.
Any comments are welcome!!!!

Did you ever try the other IRS2092 ($20 thread) that I am using? I suspect the distortion is due to the inductors not being linear at high currents. Look at how small they are. Probably would work much better with the big flat wire Coil Crafts designed for 15amps plus. Fitting them in is a problem though. Even with the IRS2092, a good high current inductor may still be needed.

No, i didn't try these.
Last night i met up with my comrade to discuss where we put our small budget.
We decided against the TAS5630 as we believe that going the IRS2092-route will be more future-proof.
Buying a completely new bank of 8 x 12V SLA batteries is fixed with this decision.
Now it is time to chose IRS2092 modules.
The very first step of this upgrade must be a new amping for the subs.
I read about the different layouts and used mosfet make a big difference between load impedances.
Maybe i should start a new thread where i ask a more precise question....
