DIY amp build?

does anyone have a good design for an amplifier that puts out 500 watts or more and runs off 12vdc? I really want to try building one but i cant find everything i need to build one.

Hi,

I wouldn't even attempt to build such a thing. The power supply
would be very complex so the power amplifier may as well be.
Note that your looking at 250A+ supply current, just silly.

However there are car amplifiers that can be run off banks of batteries.

everything? what cant you find? but there are probably scads of car audio schematics floating around. but there aint no DIY kits out yet AFAIK
what have you built from scratch before? Are your interests more toward SMPS design, any particular reason for 12V?
ppl just wake up one morning a say "im gonna build a humongous amp for my ride better than what I can buy for peanuts/W. who cares if it will short out my cars electrical system".

Pin = Pout/efficiency.
efficiency. = eff power supply *eff classD
~0.7%

In=714Watts/11.5V= 62A
cabling > allow 0.5V cable drops and an extra 60W losses
that's with #2 AWG real copper don't buy this at Audio shops

unless you have a HD commercial truck start shopping for new custom alternators and bigger battery fit. RC is probably less than 5-10 minutes with a brand new big battery half that for a couple of years old.
make sure you renew that triple AAA card.
