I recently purchased a TPA3116D2 2.1 Amplifier online, and it worked great when it was plugged into my speakers and subwoofer. I began building an enclosure for it, and needed to extend the volume potentiometer about 7 inches out. I did not have a desoldering tool, so instead, I yanked off the current potentiometer with tweezers, and used the tweezers and my solder gun to pull out the remaining pins.
In the process of doing that, I accidently overheated two traces going to the two middle pins (I believe these are for output for left and right?) so I soldered two short jumper wires from the new pins to the points that the traces originated from. I plugged in my volume potentiometer using jumpers between the new pins I put in, and turned everything on.
Good news, I got sound, however the sound was like background music? For example, I could hear the guitar player perfectly in the song, but could not hear any vocals. I changed to more songs, and it seemed like it was playing clear (no distortion) whatever was going on in the background, but there was a whole piece of the music missing. What could be my problem? I've looked around and cant seem to see any traces that might also be damaged?

Thank you both for your help! I really appreciate it. However, I can't seem to figure out what is causing the issue. When the original pot is plugged in (the one that came with it), plugged in exactly the way it was before, the volume does not change when I twist the pot, and it is only playing background music from whatever track I'm playing.
Since I'm not very skilled at this stuff, I think I'm going to just buy another amp. Would it be a better idea to put a pot between the input source and the amp and just keep the volume on the amp on full blast? I imagine if I try desoldering again, I'll end up with the same issues lol.

The description of the sound issue remind me of when I accidently mix earth and right left poles by pulling out the 3.5mm headphone from the jack in my phone while listening to spotify. The area that carries line level is a good place to start. Doubt there is something wrong with the chip if it worked before.
