Hello, lurker here from Montreal. I'm setting up an MP3 music player with a Win XP PC, touchscreen and PC type speakers with subwoofer.
I was given a set of speakers, Acoustic Authority A-3780 which don't work. When I opened it up, it seems like the main board may be shot, there are a couple of scorch marks, but nothing is obviously blown. It seems like a high power system because the chips are TDA 7296's (4).

So my question is this, (I know there would be some minor re-connecting to do) since there are no complete boards for sale using the TDA 7296, would the 2.1 boards with TPA 3116s make a good replacement here? Or is there something else?

Thanks for any help or opinions.
