This cap looks blown...
Lepai TA-2020A+ looks like a capacitor blew. Is this correct in your eyes? I am not very electronically educated. Should I pitch the 20 dollar amp or try and repair such a piece? It obviously won't power on.

uhhh... yeah.
Buy a spec'd replacement and solder it in. You've given us no clue as to what happened to cause the failure.

If you don't fix it I will PAY you to ship it to me!:D

Sure. I doubt I will fix it, so if you want it and want to pay the shipping, I'll send it to you. PM me your address and I will get a shipping quote.
Forgot to mention that it has a missing volume knob and LED light bezel from around the knob if that is still ok.

What power adapter were you previously using with it?

CoolerTunes 8th December 2012 04:54 AM

12 Volt Lithium battery.

Mariusmssj 8th December 2012 07:39 AM

coolertunes are those stock inductors or did you replace them?

Tekko 8th December 2012 09:19 AM

You must have reverse polarized the thing for that cap to look like that, since that cap is a 16V item, and your battery was 12V.

So be prepared that theres more damage in there.

Clever of Lepai to delete the previously fitted Diode that prevented such nonsense.
Most caps on the Lepais Need replacing regardless.
They really did fit lo grade bits. Not honestly surprising in a ~15$ amp.
