Hi,
I have just purchased a Tripath 2022 amp of ebay. Layout diagram attached. A little confused about powering the board. It mentions an AC Dual supply of between 15-24v, not quite sure what the dual bit means, is this two power supplies? I suppose it should probably be a toroidal transformer rated at around 24volts, the more current the better! It appears that the board has a retifier present. I notice from a few threads that some people use laptop power supplies for the TriPath amps. I have loads of these knocking around. Could I use one rated at 20v 4.51 amps for this board? If so, how would I connect it to the AC power terminals on the board. Not entirely sure but if you put DC into a retifier you get DC out minus some volts due to the diodes, is this true? Thanks. |

Google split supplies.

Check out my TA2022 build project here
I would suggest you use a 2 x 22V transformer rated at 225VA rather than the 2 x 24V 300VA I used.

Yes, use a 2x22V transformer. That's as high as you want to go.

How would I wire the 2x22v transformer to give me the dual AC input the board requires?
Nice project and thanks for the info. Thanks. |

There'll be a wiring diagram with the transformer. Can't really say much more until you get your hands on one. In the meantime research transformer wiring. Google is your friend
