Default I2C and analog inputs?

Hi, I'm making a very small and efficient headphone amplifier, but I see that most of the amplifiers of this type are designed for phones, and use the I2C standard for inputs.
My question is: Can I just input an analog signal to drive an I2C input or is it a lot more complicated than that?

I2C is a digital serial data bus and will NOT work with analog signals.

Also I2C is usually used for controlling the internal functions of the amp ic such as volume, tone controls, high/lowpass filters, muting and that kinda stuff, for the actual audio data, the bus use to be called I2S, which is similar to I2C, both having a clock line and a data line.
