PSU for ucd180st?
I have a couple of UCD180ST modules that I want to use.
Please help me decide on what to use for psu's. (Building two monoblocks.) I could either bodge togeather a couple of very simple linear supplies or I could buy a set of SMPS200QR from connexelectronic.com. The price is roughly the same when you factor in everything. The smps is probably even cheaper than the linear supplies counting all the little bits and pieces? The cases will be the same in either case. Weight isn't an issue. If anything the weight from a transformer would help the amp to stay put... I like simple and economic. If money wasn't an issue I would go ahead and buy Hypex psu's. So, what do think is my best option? |

Thanks for the suggestion.
The case is only 40mm high so size might be an issue with that specific supply. I will however e-mail Connex and ask if they can use caps with a lower profile. :) |

Looks nice but it doesn't say anything about the physical dimensions and it's way too expensive at the moment.

Ok..understand..
I have a couple of them driving 4 "old" Nuforce Ref 9 V2 pcb each..and they work very good :) Ciao! |
A 400VA transformer would be adequate.

I like power as much as the next guy but I could easily get away with 160VA transformers.
A 400VA transformer would never fit in the case anywho. Building two monoblocks... :) |
sorry, maybe solve very well DPS-400. it is 100x105mm and assemble in 1U. very clean smps for audio, think is in discount. maybe can help you.
I know it is already used for UDC180/400 without problem. |
Just use linearsupply with 2x10000uf caps. This sounds better then a SMPS with the ST modules. Do not try to save a view bucks.
