I have a Muse ta2020 amp and I want to replace all the caps. Input caps I've ordered Mundorf 2.2uF/250V and they will fit nice but I'm having some trouble with the output caps. They are 0.47uF/100V right now, same capacitance as the datasheet recommends. They actually are bypassed by 0.001uF/100V but that isn't called for in the datasheet so when I get them all out I can insert larger 0.47uF using the pins in diagonal. Thing is that the ones that are currently there are 5mm pin distance and they are small and crappy. I've looked at wima and could only fit Wima MKS4 0.47/100V. So thats PET and I'd love to get PP there for peace of mind. But there isn't any MKF or FKP that would fit. Do you know any good PP cap that has 7.5mm pin width? I could go for 10-11mm long and about 7mm thick maximum. Height could go to 20mm even. I could fit mkp or fkp but would have to use wires and I know that that isn't recommended. I could go for polyester if it's the same for the tripath ta2020 chip application. I'd have peace of mind for using polypropylene. You could point me to the right brand if it doesn't fit in the "unobtainium" category :) I look in the datasheets to see the right component.

This is refreshing good news as I was beating myself up for not being able to nicely fit something in there :) Thank you!

I'm currently driving some cheap small fullrangers that are 8ohm and I plan on doing a BLH project with my pair of fostex fe206en that are 8ohm as well.

Actually the Datasheet.. Does have 001 bypass caps .
Again IMO it's the Best circuit to use.
ONLY reason not to, is to save a few pfennings in manufacture.
Curiously I've run across mention of eliminating the 2.2uf Input caps as a means to better clarity and No turn on noises... other than soft clicks.
Have no idea on the wisdom of that but it was an 'advertised' feature of the 'Charlize' Ta 2020 Amp. But that greedy rascal wants $135 ! . as if!

I do need to build the add on DSC offset control circuits as I'm toying with the idea of trying this TA2020 chip amp on tweeters in a Bi amp.
Your Muse has such built in as does the YJ board (the one that blew up :) I'm dithering on buying one those.. It looks attractive.. except for the blowing up part.

Everybody needs a half dozen Ta 2020 gizmos

This build has good info: making Digial Amp -- TA2020-20 --

For the few hours I had my pore Lepai working. It was powering a pair of 8" full rangers in bass reflex boxes ...that I've owned since '75.
These have always sounded far too good to ever discard and on the Lepai they were wonderful.

I saw the datasheet again and it states that for 8ohm loads you have to use 0.22uF for Co. But that's all. No 0.01uF paralleling Co. There is Cdo that is 0.01uF and that is separate from the 0.01 paralleling Co. Basically I have 2 Co in parallel, one 0.47 one 0.001. As I don't see any need for those I shall replace both with one 0.22uF for each Co.

Right now I found all the caps needed so I have every original cap replaced. I don't know yet how well will Co fit but I will post some pics when I get the parts. I have about 7.3mm between holes on diagonal and the replacement i get will have 10mm pin spacing. Will need to bend the pins a bit but should work out well.

Sure fit:

Cdo 0.01uF - Wima FKP2 0.01uF/100V - FKP2D021001I00 (5mm pin spacing)
Cz 0.22uF - Wima MKS2 0.22uF/100V - MKS2D032201C00 (5mm pin spacing)
Cs, Csw, Cd, Ca and the rest of 0.1uF found on board - Wima MKS2 0.1uF/100V - MKS2D031001A00 (5mm pin spacing); these need to be slim enough as sometimes they are mounted next to each other and thicker one won't fit.

To be tested for fitment:

Cz and Co 0.22uF - Wima MKS2 0.22uF/250V - MKS2F032201H00 (5mm pin spacing)
- Wima MKP2 0.22uF/100V - MKP2D032201K00 (5mm pin spacing)
- Wima MKP2 0.22uF/250V - MKP2F032201K00 (5mm pin spacing)
Co (i prefer MKP4 for this slot) - Wima MKP4 0.22uF/100V - MKP4D032203G00 (10mm pin spacing)
- Wima MKP4 0.22uF/250V - MKP4F032203G00 (10mm pin spacing)
Cp and some other 1uF cap found on board - Wima MKS2 1uF/100V - MKS2D041001K00 (5mm pin spacing)
After I source all of them I will take some pictures of the fitment.
