I've just built 2x UCD180HGs and a SMPS400 into a smallish 1U enclosure and it gets quite hot. I'm curious to know if people think the chassis and the cooling it provides is not adequate?
When its been on for a few hours the side of the case with the AMP modules attached gets just over too hot to touch. Not like sizzling hot but too hot to touch for say 10 seconds. Opinions?

If you can still touch the sides of the box, its not getting too hot, then its probably no more than 40 degrees celcius, which is ok.

From our experience with these UcD modules, they need more heatsink that that :-)
Mount one on the other side, should be far better! |

Is it too late to relocate one of the UCD modules to the other side of the chassis?

Hmmm, perhaps I'll try that but will have to buy another size piece from hifi2000. Thanks for the opinions!

Just drill 4 holes in the other side of the case so the thing looks symmetrical, and use screws with nuts on the inside to fill in the blank holes.
Only time it'll look odd is with the cover off. |
