Hi all,
I've got my eye on this remote control volume kit that I want to work with a HifimeDIY TK2050 amp.
Silicon Chip Online - Remote Volume Control For Stereo Amplifiers
The thing is, I'd really like to power it through the same 27V Meanwell clone SMPS that powers the amp, which means I'd need to downshift the voltage from 27V to 5V.
The voltage regulator in the unmodded circuit is a LM7805 which outputs 5V, and I think using a Vin of 27V would make for a short life, but if I substituted the LM7805 with a MC7805CT (below)

Would this work ok? or would there still be too much heat thrown off, or otherwise just wasted?
Also, the kit doesnt use power except when the motor is turning the pot, so will it be ok to run it from the meanwell?
thanks guys
