I've just ordered one of Arjens TA2020 kits and PSU.
I'm sure I'll have other questions during the build but to start with; is there any reason to choose a certain type of wire when connecting the binding posts and RCAs to the PCB? Last edited by Katch; 3rd January 2012 at 11:17 AM. |

Ok, here goes with the first questions with my build. I've got my kit and need a little help with the wiring as I can't find a schematic anywhere.
I'm fine with the PSU end but intputs, volume and input selector are new territory for me. I could use some help with what order things go in, how to connect the RCAs to the selector (it has a lot of pins) and how the volume pot gets involved. If anyone has built a MKIII and has (or can knock up) a schematic it would help loads. Or even some nice clear close up shots clearly showing the routing. Sorry for being a noob but gotta start somewhere. EDIT - after a lot of google-fu I've managed to dig up this: ![]() can someone confirm if it is correct? Schematic looks good.
You can use network cable, a Cat5 will be fine, is made of solid copper and twisted, so people often use it for this kind of things. |

Yep, that's my handwriting, ugly as always...
It should be correct dough, for the selector switch is send you. cat5 cable is indeed very useful, especially if you can get the stranded stuff, its quite perfect.

Heh, I went ahead and test wired up with 5 amp thick copper stranded designed for car looms. Overkill I know but I got to use my high temp tips on my Metcal station
![]() I am very very impressed. I've been reading about Tripath amps for a few years but was always wary of the cookie cutter cheap as chips units on ebay. It's great to finally know what all the fuss was about. Just waiting for my nice chassis to arrive from wonderco_buy for the final build. Already considering a buffer to boost the levels off my PC and iPod. Have to say it's great to have the support from Arjen and that little bit more care for what they are creating. Many thanks. Currently running in with Bonobo's 'Black Sands' - perfect. How many hours should it take to run in? |
