The owners manual for the DTA-100a says not to run the amp at 4ohms. I've read though that the problem is there is no heat sink connection to one of the chips on the board. Can someone identity which chips would need the heat sink?
I popped apart my DTA-100a that I purchased a few months back. One of the chips was coated in thermal grease and was contacting the bottom of the metal case. Could this design flaw have been worked out? Thanks a ton, -Jon |

Isn't the metal case acting as a heat sink? The chip getting hot should be coated with thermal paste/grease and be in contact with the heatsink (metal case).

Yes, exactly my point. I was under the impression in previous models, one of the key amplifier chips was _not_ touching the metal case. I was hoping someone could verify this was true and that a change has been implemented in the manufacturing process.
